기발한 아이디어로서 '꽃에 물주기'라며 올린 사진들 입니다.

꽃 모양의 예쁜 장식품 같죠?
화려한 색의 꽃잎과 꽃술도 보이지만,
윗 부분에 달린 금속물체는 물을 내리는 손잡이로 소변기 임에는 분명하군요,
미국 캘리포니아주 샌프란시스코에서 활동하는 Clark Sorensen씨의 작품이라고 합니다.
홈페이지에 가 보시면 유사한 작품 4점도 전시돼 있습니다. 
그는 꽃을 소재로 작품을 만든 이유에 대해서
"추하고, 더럽다고 생각되는 것을 하나의 아름다운 예술작품으로 탄생시키고 싶었다.
꽃은 아름다울 뿐만 아니라 가장 이상적인 소변기 모양을 하고 있다"
고 설명했습니다.
지난 5월에 있었던 전시회 'Nature's
call'에서는 많은 관람객들로 부터 찬사를 받았다고 합니다.
'Nature's call'은 아마 '오줌이 마렵다'란 의미일 듯 합니다.
이 전시회에서는 3개의 작품에 실제 소변기 용도로 수도관을 연결해서 손잡이를 누르면 물이 내려가는 모습을 관람객들에게 보여
주었다는데,
실제 볼 일을 보는 관람객이 생기진 않을까 하는 우려로,
일반 소변기보다 높은 위치에 작품을 설치하였다는 에피소드도 전해 줬습니다.

그는 "이런 메일을 받게 되서 기쁘다. 나의 작품 이미지를 사용하는 것을 흔쾌히 허락한다"면서 "남동생이 한국말을 할 줄 알고 한글을 읽을 수 있다. 기사가 실리게 되면 남동생과 함께 읽어보겠다"고 한국 네티즌들의 반응에 대한 기대를 감추지 않았습니다.

In English we say: "nature is calling" as a polite way of saying "I need to go to the bathroom". In my show all of the pieces were inspired by natural shapes so I was playing with words when I titled my show. I chose flowers as the shapes for my urinals because they are beautiful and are the perfect shape for a urinal. I enjoy taking something like a urinal, which is thought of as ugly and dirty and making it into a beautiful work of art. In my recent show, people mostly had very complimentary things to say. I had three of my pieces connected to water so they actually flushed. This was a big success. People liked being able to see that these pieces actually worked as urinals. I mounted these pieces higher on the wall than a regular urinal so that no one would be tempted to actually urinate in them. My favorite piece in the show was the Pink Orchid. The way the water flows when this piece is flushed is really beautiful.
